Who says you can´t do it?

Good evening my dear ones;=)

Friday and I´ve been by the sewing machine. So fun! And well, my little pants are ready and I am proud! I have NEVER made this before and the only things I have made before is curtains. No clothes what so ever so doing these, without help, in a quite hard fabric to sew in and putting on cuffs made of ribbing, which also is elastic and well, it made me swear a couple of times;=)

BUT!!! I made it!!!

Having a mother who has worked as a seamstress and therefore is great at making clothes, I have always seen when she has been sitting by the machine and it always gave me a warm and relaxed feeling as a child. So now when Nemo comes and asks what I am doing and gives me a hug in between, it feels like it should... =)

These pants are not perfect and they can be made better, but for being the very first time, I am content and tomorrow I´m going to get some more fabric to make more. A new hobby has gotten into my life and now when waiting for the baby, a hobby is needed;=)

And this only proves what I always has said when someone says: - But you can´t do that???
And I have always answered: Of course I can!!!!

I may have many bad vices but one good one is that I am not afraid of trying new things;=)

Now sleep well my dear ones, I wish you all the most wonderful dreams out there and lots of love!

Congratulations on the victory! Without doubt, it is a victory. Those materials are not easy to work with. It's no small feat to take them on as a first timer and succeed, as you know. They are so cute, too! I hope that you share pictures of the new baby wearing them.

I am not a seamstress, but I have many friends who are. From what I've observed, cussing at the machine, ripping out bad stitches, and trying again is just part of the process.

Congratulations Anette! You did a really good job sewing! When my children were small (many many years ago lol), I would sew pants and tops for them. And I knitted little coats and hats too. I really enjoyed it and was so proud when I completed one. It's very relaxing, and also gives a "warm fuzzy" feeling inside!

Enjoy this beautiful day Anette

Evening Anette,

Congratulations on your first self Sewn.:)
It´s don´t look perfect, but it was make with love;)

And now you have your first experience with stretch fabric. Since I have my Overlook. It is somewhat simpler.;)

Your story for your mother seems very trusted.
But it was not my mother, but my grandmother has always sewn. She has always looked after me when I was very young and my mother had to work.
And every time I sew, I feel that she is with me.
(Now I have to push away a tear.)
I miss them sometimes and then I sew something simple, because then I have a feeling she is with me.

Good night. Nalon

Ps: A small utility knife is suitable for unpick better.;)

Anette, they turned great! Well done! ;) By the way I feel the same feeling of warmth when I see my mother sitting by the machine...
I also completely agree with you that we should not be afraid of trying new things. The personal growth and development is what makes us better people in all aspects of our life! :)

Great work! Congrats. I can't shewing, but the last year my friend showed me how to do some carnival costums, so I decided that this year I'll try make a costume for me. I think I'll do a zebra costum, if I'll find the fabric :) I have here at home my friend's costum, so I think I'll can do that ;)
It warms my heart when I read that even Nemo is proud of her mum :)

I understand your victory very well. I am disabled, I can't use my hands at all. So I use my feet for everything, from writing to texting. When I was in middle school and during my freshman year, I took two different classes that we had to use the sewing machine. I had to have my aide put the thread in the needle and when it messed up, they fixed it for me. Everything less was my job. I made a small pillow in middle school and I made a jean purse (that still looks pretty good!) and a pair of pjs. I haven't used a sewing machine in a long time and I think that's a good thing. Lol have a good night!

Cutie panties :) Åh jag klarar mig inte utan mina symaskiner. De spar så mycket pengar för mig. Jag lagar och syr upp massor och ändrar osv.

Hey Nettan.
Wow, it's amazing!! Congratulations my dear!! You are a great dressmaker =D..and I'm sure the next pant you'll make will be better and then better and so on. Times ago it was so common to see the children sat down looking to their mothers making clothes and yes, it's so sweet and I think Nemo is so blessed to live this moment because nowadays we just see the children on the video game, TV, Internet and we don't teach them about the simple things of life and for me they are the most important of it all ^^.
Ah yeah, there's so many people who are used to say to everyone who tries to do a different thing "you can't do that", but I've learned in my life that we must believe in ourselves and just carry on. There's a time when we just have to close our eyes and stay deaf for the world's words and just follow our hearts =).

Now, have a resting sleeping night.

Love, Carol

Good evening Anette :)

The pants are so cute! Looking at them, they are "perfect" because they are made with love - a mother's love at that.

I've been sewing since I was a child, but nothing that I could wear. I used to make very elaborate Barbie dresses for my younger cousins when I worked overnights - all by hand. I doubt I could use a sewing machine. With my luck, I would break it the first try :)

I hope you and your family have a great, peaceful evening. Good night and sleep well.
